DCI John Luther meets Alice after returning from a leave of absence; due to a traumatic apprehension of Henry Maden, a serial killer.

A trained sniper is gunning for police officers.  Luther must out maneuverer him; while dealing with Alice who has started her own obsession with Luther.

A young mother, Kirsten Ross has been taken from her home.  Luther realizes this is the work of crazed Lucien Burgess who has escape arrest before.

Henry Madsen is awake, which will cause Luther big problems if he talks.  However, Luther must focus on a new serial killer, who is killing young girls.

Luther and Reed go after some notorious diamond thieves for much different reasons.  In the balance, one of the diamond thieves wife is taken, the diamonds go missing, and all mayhem breaks out. 

Luther is framed for murder and turns to Alice for help.  While Reed works the police force from within, Luther gather others to help him clear his name.

A second series of Luther is in the works; due to be released in 2011.  The second series of Luther will be two 2 hrs long shows.
