You go to the store and buy yourself a new HDTV, and now you find out you need HDMI cables for your new HDTV.  Which HDMI cables should you get?  Does a higher HDMI cable price equal quality?  

HDMI cable prices can range from $30 to $130 in the store.  Online you can buy quality HDMI monster cables from between $5 to $50.  So, how is a new HDTV buyer suppose to choose?

Here's the sales pitch you'll get at the store -- "If you buy a HDTV for $1,000 or more, you should buy a HDMI monster cable of $50 to $80.  The salesmen will go on to tell you "cheap HDMI cables will affect the quality of the picture".  The experts call this sales pitch a RIP OFF.

Experts have done studies on HDMI monster cables ranging from $13 to $300 and found no difference in quality of the HDMI cable or its performance.

Who performed the HDMI cable studies?  Popular Mechanics and CNET.  CNET reported, Any HDMI cable over $50 is a RIP OFF.  A quality HDMI monster cable should cost no more than $10 (6ft).

So, in the words of Martha Stewart -- cheap HDMI cables are a good thing.
