What is Plaque?
Plaque is a bacteria growth around your teeth. Plaque is the beginning sign of gum disease. Gum disease can lead to bleeding gums and loss of bone around the tooth.

Tartar buildup is different then plaque. Tartar is the deposit of mineral on your teeth. It usually appears above and below the gum line. When you have tartar on your teeth, your teeth appear to be stain. However, it's not the teeth that are stain but the tartar.
