Kindle Or Nook?

Will the Barnes and Noble Nook win over the Kindle Fire this holiday season? Barnes and Noble is jumping into the fire with the announcement of the Nook tablet, which is in direct competition with the Kindle Fire.

At a press conference in New York, Barnes and Noble showed off the new Nook tablet to potential users. The Nook tablet will retail for $249, which is $50 more than the Kindle fire ($199); but half the price of a Apple iPad.

Barnes and Noble is clearly making the case that the screen quality, twice the storage, SD memory slot, and other components are worth the extra $50 over the Kindle Fire. The Nook Tablet comes integrated with Neflix, HuluPlus, and Pandora. Along with the new tablet by Barnes and Noble is the newly launched digital store with free in-person support.

However the Kindle Fire is only $199 and combined with the Amazon Prime service is the Nook Tablet a better buy? The Amazon Prime service is $79 per/year and offers two day shipping, streaming movies, and the new Amazon Leading Library. The Amazon Leading Library allows Prime users to borrow one book a month free.

Barnes and Noble is a company trying to do all the right things to compete in today’s digital world. The head of Barnes and Noble is a former internet guru, the redesign of its web site, and now the release of the Nook Tablet are all ways Barnes and Noble is trying to win the digital customer over. If you wish to purchase a previous Nook, like the Nook Color the price has just dropped to $199 or the Nook Touch; which is now $99.
