Without Air Conditioning

Air conditioning is a luxury to some.  Surviving those warm/hot summer days and nights without air conditioning can be a nightmare.  What can you do to survive through the heat?  Before you die of heat stroke here are some "without air conditioning" tips you can use.

Surviving The Heat

Here are some "surviving the heat" items you make want to use.

  • Fan
  • Ice
  • Linen Sheets

When using a fan, place a bowl of ice in front on the fan.  This is the basic principle of an air conditioner.  Although this will not work as good as an air conditioner, it will get you through the summer.  The next "surviving" tip is about your sheets.  Cotton sheets hold heat.  Therefore, use linen sheets in the summer.  Linen sheets are lighter than cotton.  To maximize your pleasure, put the linen sheets in the freeze twenty minutes before bed.

This next "surviving" tip is surprising.  Take warm showers.  By taking a warm shower your body will natural cool itself off.  You may also want to place a cool wet rag on the back of your neck.  This step of "surviving the heat" is the most important tip.  Drink plenty of liquid -- excluding beer, spirits, and soda.

At night, turn your fan to exhaust hot air from the room.  Some window fans have this feature built-in.  When you are exhausting hot air from the room, closed the door to that room.

The next tip is for use during the day.  Get out of the house and go to the mall, or somewhere that has air conditioning.  Hope these tips help you stay cool -- without air conditioning.
