What is a Page Rank?
A Page Rank aka PR is a google term that measures inbound/backlinks (links pointing to your site) and the quality of those links, which results in a measure of importance of your site -- amongst other factors.
What is a good PR? There are many webmasters debating this topic but the range is from 1-10:
- 3-4 Average
- 5-6 Good
- 7-8 Excellent
- 9-10 Reserved (Mostly Google, Yahoo ...)

When you see "$" that means the site offers revenue potential. Tip: Along with raising your PR you can earn extra money too; and if you're pointing to a revenue source (your blog) that's twice as nice.

- Squidoo - Find & share topics online by building a lens - PR7 ($)
- Hubpages - Write about topics you love to talk about - PR6 ($)
- Craigslist - Free Posting - PR6
Tip: How to find blogs to post to in any given topic -- in your brower type exactly with quotes but replacing the keywords "keyword" "powered by wordpress" "leave a comment". Click on one of the listings and then click view source (ctrl U). Click find (ctrl F) nofollow. Nofollow is one word. If you find a nofollow that mean that your post will not be indexed. You can still contribute if you like the blog. If nofollow is not found your post will count as a backlink. Remember to look at the PR in the Google toolbar you downloaded.

Textlinks from Adbrite sites isn’t going to raise the target sites pagerank. The links are created using a javascript function, which means that the Google-bot never see the links when crawling the site.
At most it will get you traffic from people clicking on the links, but doing something good for your search engine ranking, it will not. BTW: Found you via your podcast.. good work.

I work on getting high pr site link backs, it is hard because every person wants to be on page 1.
Great tips, I never thought about Craigslist being a good source of links. How cool is that. It's also good to find blogs that have DO FOLLOW in the comments.

On my Idea Online search engine runs on the number of approaches to decide which sites displayed on first page in the results. There are many steps to enhance your positioning.
Add to the variety of backlinks of your respective website using keywords as anchor-text.
Many of the most common tips on how to build backlinks are:
Directory submissions, Forum Participation (forum signs), Commenting on blogs, Social Bookmarking as well as networking sites, Link Exchanges with relevant sites, Bum marketing Etc...
